Through many decades and into the 20th century European history was made in the Kaiservilla. Bad Ischl became the “secret capital” of the powerful Austrian-Hungarian Empire.
Come and see the originally preserved chambers, where Empress “Sisi” Elisabeth spent her summers and where Emperor Franz Joseph reigned and declared war on Serbia and thus started World War I. He listed his motives in a manifesto called “To my People”.
On a 45-minute guided tour you can get a glimpse of the flair of the olden times and learn interesting and personal facts on the life of the royal family.
The Kaiservilla is surrounded by the vast Kaiserpark which is perfect for long walks. The former tea house and the “Marmorschlössl” castle are also in the park.
Visits only with guided tours.
