... Gosaubahn lift brings all hikers, sports lovers and walkers into the alpine area, the most beautiful part of the Salzkammergut area.
From Gosausee Lake the gondola brings you towards the bizarre rock formations of Gosaukamm crest. Guests are free to explore this world full of welcoming huts and varied hiking routes.
Experienced mountaineers will love it, just like those who prefer more relaxed walks and those who passionately love to stop at mountain huts.
Extended hiking routes lead past pastures and through dark mountain forests. These hikes can last from 2-3 hours to several days.
Welcoming alpine huts are to be found everywhere.
One of the most popular hiking trails leads on top of Große Donnerkogel Mountain; experience a mountain conquest and prevail over dramatically jagged chalk formations. The demanding and challenging Intersport via ferrata also leads to this point. From Gablonzer hut near the top terminal two stages (400m of altitude gain) lead to the summit cross of Große Donnerkogel Mountain. You have to allow for some 3 hours of climbing in the steep rock faces (intermediate – upper levels of difficulty).
Thanks to the free rental prams (at the top terminal of Gosaukammbahn lift) families can bring their toddlers and enjoy a relaxed excursion at an altitude of 1,500m.

June 21, 2008: midsummer fires:
Midsummer fires are lit in the Gosau-Zwieselalm hiking region.
Gosaukammbahn lift offers uphill rides from 7pm – 8pm. The fires are lit at 9:30 p.m. The pleasant warmth of the fire creates a homey atmosphere. Sparks fly through the night and the cracking of burning wood provides for a quaint atmosphere. On the jagged summit of Gosaukamm crest and numerous other summits fires are lit. It seems as if the mountains were glowing!
