Swimming Lakes

Our bountiful Lakes offer unparalleled opportunities for swimming. All lakes add to the unique beauty of the landscape and offer recreation in its most luxuriously and refreshing form. Browse the map and locate the Lake of your interest!

Ödensee Lake

Ödensee Lake with a surface of 20 hectares is amongst the smaller lakes of the Salzkammergut area. Still it is a popular bathing lake in summer.

Sommersbergsee Lake

The unspoilt area around Sommersbergsee Lake, which is surrounded by the Ausser Mountains, is a perfect area for recreation and resting.

Irrsee

At the heart of the impressive Salzkammergut Lake District, the Irrsee is in the lovely Mondseeland Country, only 30 kilometers out from the Festival Town of Salzburg.

Grundlsee

The Grundlsee and the legendary Toplitzsee, tucked neatly into the stunning mountains of the Totes Gebirge range, invite you for a refreshing swim in this undisturbed natural setting.

Wolfgangsee

The Wolfgangsee is not only one of the most famous lakes in the Salzkammergut because of its many appearances in TV movies. This lake simply has everything: From swimmers, splashers, windsurfers and sailors to sunbathing beaches and recreational boats.

Almsee

It lies at the foot of the majestically enthroned Totes Gebirge range and reflects a dazzlingly colorful mirror image of this beautiful mountain backdrop: The Almsee Lake.

Altausseersee

From a scenic perspective, the Altausseer Lake is among the most beautiful lakes in the Salzkammergut. It lies at the foot of the Loser Peak in a fantastic mountain landscape.

Fuschlsee

A peaceful, dreamy lake embedded in a beautiful landscape, the magic of which touches ones heart and is even improved by breathtaking sunsets.

Hallstättersee

This serene swimming lake is at the center of a cultural heritage region.

Traunsee

Even the Romans recognized the magical effect of the Traunsee and named it “lacus felix”, the happy lake.

Offensee

The Offensee Lake is in a nature preserve at the base of the lofty Totes Gebirge mountain range, offers crystal clear water, sandy beaches free of charge, and flat, shallow shorelines (especially well suited for children and non-swimmers).

Langbathsee

The closer of the two Langbath Lakes is in the natural preserve at the base of the Höllengebirge Mountain Range, with crystal clear water that you can drink, a stunning mountain backdrop, loop trails, Emperor Franz Josef’s former hunting lodge and a lakeside hotel with a restaurant.

The OUTER LANGBATHSEE (600m long, 400m wide, approx. 23m deep) – is a heavenly nature preserve.

Mondsee
