Wolfgangsee

The Wolfgangsee is one of the warmest lakes in the Salzkammergut, its crystal clear water reaching an average of 24°C in summertime.

The waters grow deeper as you go from west to east, the deepest point (142m) being south of Sappl. The water is even renowned for its drinkable quality!

In winter the lake typically freezes over.

The tourist towns are concentrated on the north shore, while the south shore is undeveloped, densely forested and very steep – up to 90 meters deep.
