The Facts

From the Hahnbaum landmark on the esplanade we cross the Kurpark and turn into the Leitenbergstrasse at the Gasthaus Steiniger. From there we follow the crossroad to the Calvary church. The Calvary church had been built in 1704. In the interior you find a Baroque roof fresco and a life-sized crucifixion group at the altar. From the church we follow Elisabeth Forest Trail direction Ahorn. From there we follow a hardly frequented road in direction Leschetizkyhöhe. From the hill you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Ischl valley in direction St. Wolfgang. Johannes Brahms composed his song "Guten Abend, Gute Nacht" there. We pass the guesthouse "Schwarze Katze" in direction of the hamlet of Rabennest. From there we follow the old Roman road to the Wildenstein castle ruins. We descend to Katrinseilbahn base station and follow Traun River to the centre of Bad Ischl.
