We follow the asphalted street upward to the left which soon changes into a forest trail . After about 25 min we keep right on a road junction with a signpost (013°39'21 “O - 47°42'21“ N – 689 m). Few minutes later we leave the forest trail (do not continue on the forest trail – it does not lead on on the Hohe Schrott!) at another signpost (013°39'45 “O - 47°42'20“ N - 770 m) to the left. Then up to the Halbweghütte ( 013°40'26 “O - 47°42'37“ N – 1117 m ) we cross another forest trail. About 25min, directly ar a road junction we arrive at an area which was strongly hit by the storms of the last years (pay attention on the hiking trail markers!). By reaching a forest trail we keep left at a signpost (013°41'06 “O - 47°42'50“ N – 1309 m). We follow this tractor path up to his end few metres below the Mitteralm. Passing some huts we reach a signpost (013°42'04 “O - 47°43'08“ N). Here we could walk to the right to the Hinteralm alp. We continue straight ahead. Soon the forest ends and we reach the mountain pine zone and the anticline of the Schrott (013°42'20 “O - 47°43'36“ N) with a signpost. From here on there are only 20 min to the summit of the Hohen Schrott (013°42'41 “O - 47°43'40“ N – 1839 m). As we descend we go back to the anticline of the Schrott and climb up at few minutes to the Hochglegt (013°42'09 “O - 47°43'33“ N – 1785 m). Now it goes down in western direction to the Kotalm. In continuation of our descent to Bad Ischl through a gigantic woodland with heavy storm damages we cross a forest trail four times before we reach the district of Rettenbach. From there we can walk back to our starting point.
