We walk along Lehár quay in direction Rettenbachwaldstrasse road until we get to Rettenbachmühle guesthouse. We continue along the gravel road in direction Rettenbachalm pasture. The slightly ascending road is toll-free and cleared in winter. The wild-romantic Rettenbach brook accompanies hikers. The trail passes the climbing garden and Hubertuskapelle chapel until it leads to the car park at Rettenbachalm hut. A driving ban is effective from there on and hikers get to Niederalm pasture (636m). Quaint snack stations and homey huts invite to a break. From the pasture one follows the signs in direction Blaa Alm pasture and Altaussee.

Rettenbachalm pasture is a perfect base for hikes to Hinteralm pasture, Gamskogl Mountain and Wildenkogel Mountain.
