Its rich alpine flora and fauna is as surprising as its emergence when the Alps unfolded. Dive into the 30 stations of the Katrin world and learn e.g. about:
- Club moss – a look at early periods of life
- Mountain meadows as a habitat
- What is the difference between pine trees and fir trees?
- Ants – scent-driven colonies
- How does the foehn wind emerge in Upper Austria?
- Gosaukamm ridge emerges from a coral reef
and a lot more.
Section 1: the trail across pastures to a vantage point is well developed. The route past Feuerkogel Mountain is an alpine path leading through larch forests and pastures full of alpine roses.
Section 2: from the top terminal an interpretative trail leads in serpentines through dwarf pine krummholz and pastures full of alpine roses to Katrin summit.
