The Austrian Romantic Road

Along the Austrian Romantic Road you can combine culinary and cultural highlights on your journey between Salzburg and Vienna. It offers decelerated and pleasant travelling through the most beautiful regions of Austria.

Almost 20 historically important villages form a “string of pearls” and mark the “Way of all Senses”. The varied landscapes, the cultural variety and the culinary highlights along the Romantic Road make it especially worthwhile. Numerous traditional events, festivals, abbeys and medieval town centres and the two world cultural heritage sites of Hallstatt and the Wachau region attract visitors. Travellers get their money’s worth in all seasons. In summer time the Salzburg Festival is the main attraction, but also the blossoming of the apricot trees in the Wachau region and Corpus Christi events in the Salzkammergut area make a journey to the Salzkammergut area worthwhile already in spring time.

Clear signposts at regular intervals point the way all along the route. A specific road map shows the entire road and lists all the sights in detail.
