The so-called “Marmorschlössl” used to be the teahouse of Empress Elisabeth and holds today the Upper Austrian Museum of Photography!
Thanks to its location in the imperial park and the unique architecture of the building, the museum of photography is one of the most interesting museums of Austria. The museum also holds the historically important collections of Prof. Hans Frank, which were acquired by the province of Upper Austria in the 1970ies. The acquisition of the collections was also the inspiration for opening the museum on June 29, 1987. A promising use of the “Marmorschlössl” teahouse for the future was thus ensured. The tea house of Empress Elisabeth was planned by Franz von Ruth and finished in 1861.
