This prominent villa is located at the right shores of the Traun river and was home to the composer Franz Lehàr from 1910 to his death in 1948.
In 1912 Franz Lehàr bought the villa from the Duchess of Sabran. To his death in 1948 he spent almost all his summer there. Lehár loved his villa on the Traun River and always said that in Ischl he had his best ideas. He wrote his masterpieces here (“The Merry Widow”, “Der Graf von Luxemburg” , “Paganini”, “Der Zarewitsch”, “Das Land des Lächelns” and “Giudetta”). It seems as if he only just left the villa yesterday.
The rooms have been left as they were if possible; they still hold the same furniture and things as they did in the lifetime of Franz Lehàr. He collected many precious paintings, pieces of furniture and souvenirs – a unique and worthwhile art collection.
