This young custom is celebrated at a Salzkammergut pasture normally on August 15.
Music is made with instruments typical of the Salzkammergut: 6-holed fifes referred to as “Seitelpfeife” or “Schwegelpfeife” and Jew’s harps.
Folk musicians and bands meet at a hut to play traditional music. Blowers, drummers, violinists and “Seitelpfeifer” fife players play traditional tunes far from kitsch and commerce.
