This quite young tradition is celebrated on a mountain pasture in the Salzkammergut typically on the 15th of August .
Music is made with instruments characteristic for the Salzkammergut: 6-holed fifes referred to as “Seitelpfeife” or “Schwegelpfeife” and Jew’s harps.
Folk musicians and bands meet at a hut to play traditional music. Blowers, drummers, violinists and “Seitelpfeifer” fife players play traditional tunes far from kitsch and commerce.
